Introduction-How I made my first Million

The day I got home one afternoon to find my wife quietly sobbing at the kitchen table because her sister had just called her to tell her that their mother had just passed away in a car accident was a very melancholy day for me. After comforting her and doing what I could, I left her alone to her grief as she needed it. Being away from her and giving her space that day, I had some strange feelings and emotions. The furthest thing from my mind was wealth creation or Haydens Book “The Million Dollar Mentor”

Cassies mother lived in Scotland and we didn’t have the money to buy a bus ticket much less flying across the Atlantic and spending money to attend a funeral. Cassie knew that and I think it could have only added to her grief. I had plenty of work to do so I kept to myself unless she needed me that night, but I did little work...

I love the woman I’m married to and would do anything for her. All I could think about was how unhappy she was this moment and how it was my fault that I couldn’t deliver for her what we need. I was not a bad provider, I was just not a very good one.

As I quickly discovered over the coming weeks, I got the message. She couldn’t help her emotions and the sparkle in her eye that I welcomed so much as part of being with this woman had started to fade. Now, I know this may sound like a little thing but it had huge ramifications for me and frankly scared the hell out of me.

Cassie had dealt with her grief the best way she knew how and fair or unfair, I was lowered to a more distant status in her emotional world.

There was not much I could do, so I accepted it and felt that she would snap out of it at some later stage when I made it up to her.

But that night, trying to work and also being distracted by the emotional turmoil somebody I love was going through, I began to have escapist thoughts.

You see, I came to the realization that when I think about wealth creation ideas, its a mechanism of escape for my emotions. Not specifically a serious attempt at actually doing anything to improve my situation. Whenever I would take to reading books or listening to tapes, it was because something was going on in my life that I
wanted to run from. Where as consciously I was serious about finding a solution, unconsciously, I was kidding myself. I was killing time and generally just trying to avoid any unpleasant feelings I may have had been experiencing caused by the things that life threw in my path.

Does that make these kinds of products useless? At the time, when I realized that it occurred to me that yes, they are all useless and I was just consuming them to kid myself while the latest drama passed and I could get back to my mundane, unimportant, mediocre life.

That these types of books were just a diversion and distraction from current unpleasant circumstances.

Well, that night, as my wife grieved the loss of her mother and I had been having these realizations there was a cloud descending over our home. A sort of emotional jell permeating the air that smelled to me of the foul stench of failure. It is hard to explain the feeling, but its like everything resists you. Like you are physically suspended in a gelatine of some kind and the resistance is great to any endeavor and wish. Like nothing you hope for will ever come to pass and you will live out your days exactly as you are, never to experience a single new thing ever again.

Yes, it felt like life was passing me by, but the impression was on steroids due to the current emotional cloud.

Nevertheless, I gravitated to my library of past book’s, tapes and seminar’s. I observed myself as the justifications seemed to come to the fore of my mind. I began to think about the delicious idea of making my first million within 12 months, I started to think about
Haydens book again above the hundreds of programs I had collected over the years, this particular book that seemed to have just fallen into my lap out of a clear blue sky, was the one I kept coming back to.

If I really could focus for 12 short months, I reasoned, then it would be very easy if I started seeing results. These thoughts brought relief and would solve so many current problems that the idea seemed to take on a life of its own in my mind at that moment.

Old ideas came back and I felt the familiar hopefulness that sustained me in the past. The possibility that I could actually make a difference and become a master of my circumstances rather than a passive victim.

All my problems were money related. What ever problem you could conjure, there is nothing that cash couldn’t solve. I know money isn’t everything, but it certainly does solve a lot of little problems that seem so big when you lack the cash.

Despite my insights about my pattern of behavior, it made sense to escape again as the cloud that was settling on top of our home was digging in. I could feel it. I needed relief.

I opened the file where the book was. Hayden’s book. It was visited several times over the last few months since my encounter with the accountant.

But life got in the way and there weren’t any particular crisis until now, that I had to escape from. I found the inspiration to get myself a sandwich and sit back in my home office, put my feet up on the desk and go through the whole thing again. I wanted to re-live every paragraph and put myself back into the state of mind I was in a few months ago. I wanted to be filled with hope and joy.

I wanted to know things would be ok and if I could find the emotional “vibe” I was in 2 months ago about this possibility, then maybe I could, this time-DO SOMETHING.

I read and read for a good part of the evening. I was starting to feel myself again and that dark gelatinous cloud began to lift. I started to feel energy again, coursing through my veins. I started to remember my fire.

Dreams are a funny thing, if you don’t reach them, they become a burr in your side. If you don’t try, you can’t get rid of them. So either you fight for your dreams and fail and get on with your life or you suffer under the weight of regret. Or, of course you achieve them.

These are your only alternatives, when it comes to the
consequences of dreams.

Guess what I did next.

Note: This program is not for everyone. You must be honest about your
capacities. It works for anyone, but requires an inner resolve.

The following pages are a summation of how I earned my first million dollars over 5 years ago. I did it very quickly and I did it without any help from partners or financial backers. I took out no loans and needed no credit checks or large deposits. I had very little spare cash and I can honestly say, I made my first million starting with just $500!

What I did for the next 12 months from that day on was buy $1 notes for 50 cents or less on a systematic basis.

In essence that’s what Hayden’s book is about. If you read no further and you only take one thing away from this book, then let it be this sentence above. Excess intrinsic value is everywhere. Its like spare money lying in the streets and footpaths, but you need to train yourself to see it and scoop it up. Whether you become a millionaire or whether you stop short at a quick and lazy $100,000 for lack of interest, you will always have the key to money in your pocket if you learn how to do what you are about to learn.

No matter what may come your way, no matter what problems you may encounter in your life, you will not suffer for a lack of money.

With this knowledge and the experience of doing it first hand yourself, you will have a certain “life confidence” about you because money won’t be the burden that it once was. Before it was your master, from now on... money will be your servant...

5 Ways to Make Money Fast and Easy

This is where the rubber meets the road. Traction is something we all lack when we are doing our research and ultimate field tests in the quest for our first million. More traction would be great whatever step in the ladder you are at.

We generally focus on helping fledgling millionaires in our work because it is the most rewarding and gives us the greatest bang for our buck. To see an individual go from clueless to savvy in a fortnight is a gratifying experience. When its our resources that helped that transformation, then its very satisfying indeed. So thats the area we focus on here. This is for people who need direction but have small resource capital to manufacture acceptable results.

So lets give you a little traction before you seize your jets. The following 5 strategies will give you the moves to take you to the first level. -A guy/gal with a proven idea that can be replicated-(An enviable position to be in)

1) Lets get this straight. Million dollar bank balances are numerical in nature. By that I mean a million bucks is not made up of 1 large million dollar bill. Its made up of exactly one million single's. Or to go to the lowest common denominator, its actually numerically made up of One thousand, million (or 1 billion) cents.

Make money fast and easy by thinking of money as numerical and therefore exponential. A dollar that you hold in your hand is the same as $1 million dollars. No difference at all. Its a seed that grows into a tree, then that tree spurrs more seeds. (I apologize for the metaphor, but how else can we put this so you understand the nature of the reality as it is)

2) When you approach your 1 million dollar goal, you are biting off much much more then you can chew thinking about that million.

To make money fast and easy always think small. Refine, refine, refine. Then duplicate, duplicate, duplicate. Are you with me? Is this making sense? Make a simple little mouse trap, then make lots of mouse traps exactly the same way.

3) Find demand and supply into that demand.

To make money fast and easy, even before you think about "what" you will do, you are going to research demand. You will become an expert at sniffing out needs. This skill is a millionaires bow and arrow. Let me tell you, most millionaires couldn't hit the side of a barn much less the bulls eye. But they DO know this. So their aim is not important. What is important is that the target is nice and gigantic. How can they miss?

Trust me, its what millionaires do, its how millionaires think. Always supply into Fat juicy demand where the picking is easy. Do you want medals of bravery or a million bucks asap?

4) Have a structure you never deviate from.

They always failed to plan when they planned to fail. Once your research is done never deviate from it. Give it a good run but if it doesn't work out for you then move on without shedding a single tear. Chance and "chaos theory" are fascinating things. Probability is what millionaires deal with. They never delude themselves into believing in absolutes.

To make money fast and easy, you will not work backwards or second guess yourself. Plant yourself firmly in the middle of the road on the high side and go forward. Don't make it up as you go. Stick to what your demand planning told you to do. Many give up after 1 failure, but probability is a funny thing. We think we can control it, but even when all your ducks are lined up in a row, it may not work. But give it a chance and let it prove itself and you may find over a number of attempts you will get the results you expected.

5) Diversify AND Go deep.

They call out diversify when it comes to investing. Fair enough. Things change and relying on just one source for your income stream is dangerous. And it is. But there are two sides to every coin.

The pareto principle states that reality and probability are stacked unevenly. We as rational human beings think of everything as equal and even. However scientific evidence and business experience tells a different story. The pareto principle is also known as the 80/20 rule. It states that 80% of your results comes from 20% of your activities. Is this significant if true? You bet. It means that of every effort you make, of all the many things you do to manufacture your results, only 20% actually is responsible for a large proportion (in fact 80%) of them.

So what does this mean in English? It means you can easily quadruple your results by finding out what that special 20% activity is and stop doing everything else. By focusing on just that 20% activity you will not only increase results, but you will create a new pareto principle refined of the old one at a higher level. In this way you move forward and evolve your activities to higher and higher levels.

To your health and rapid success.
If you need money now, like I mean in the next 10 minutes, try what I did. I now am making more money than in my old business and you can too. History of the Paper Clip

Background

The paper clip is a nearly ubiquitous device, used worldwide to temporally hold papers together. The technology for manufacturing paper clips evolved in the early years of the twentieth century, and has remained virtually unchanged since the 1930s. Paper clips come in several forms, but the one most often seen in common use is called the Gem clip. The origin of the term "Gem" is supposed to have originated from a British firm that began exporting them at least as early as 1907. The term has come to stand for the iconic shape of the oval-within-oval design. Any clip of this shape is called a Gem clip, regardless of the manufacturer. Another type of paper clip sometimes used by archivists and librarians is called the Gothic clip. It has a rectangular shape, with a triangular inner loop. Other distinguishing marks of paper clips are the overall size, the thickness, and quality of the wire, and whether the clip is corrugated or smooth. Most paper clips in the United States are made domestically by a few firms that specialize in their manufacture. These manufacturers put out roughly 20 million lb (9 kg) a year of paper clips.
History

The paper clip evolved to fill a specific need. A large amount of paper could be bound into a book in order to hold the leaves together. Binding was not a viable solution to keep together a few sheets, such as a short set of records or receipts. Though paper was invented in China sometime in the first century A.D., and was widespread in Europe by the thirteenth century, people made do without anything like the modern paper clip until the end of the nineteenth century. People used two general methods to fasten together a few sheets of paper. They could slit the pages in the corner, making two short parallel cuts. Then ribbon or string could be threaded through the slits, the ends tied and often sealed with wax. The second method was to take a common straight pin and pin the sheets together. Machinery to make cheap and uniform quality pins developed early in the nineteenth century. Business people bought boxes of loose pins, sold by the pound and called "bank pins," to use in offices. Both the slit method and the pin method had the same drawback: the paper had to be pierced. Pin holes caused less wear on the paper than slits, yet if pages needed to be unpinned and repinned many times, the pinned corner was subject to a lot of wear, leading to the drooping "dog ear." Pins also had the disadvantage of being sharp enough to prick fingers and tended to rust if left in place for any length of time.

Designs or patents for early paper clips date to the middle of the nineteenth century, but none of these early devices seem to have worked well enough to have made a lasting impression. Some of these were closer in form to what is known today as a binder clip or bulldog clip, and others enfolded the entire corner of the paper within teethed overlays of thin metal. This type of paper fastener was made from stamped sheet metal. Wire forming technology advanced in the mid-nineteenth century, and from about 1870 on, paper clips of various designs competed in Europe and the United States.

The earliest recorded patent for a paper clip was granted by the United States Patent Office to a Pennsylvanian, Matthew Schooley, in 1898. Schooley's patent application mentions other devices already on the market of a similar design, so it would not be accurate to name him or any other individual as the father of the paper clip. A Norwegian, John Vaaler, is often credited with inventing the paper clip in 1899. His patent application included several possible paper clip shapes, including one that is similar to the modern Gem clip. Because of Vaaler, the paper clip became a symbol of Norwegian nationalism during World War II. There is even a 23 ft (7 m) high statue of a paper clip in Norway. It was set up to commemorate the solidarity the Norwegians represented against the Nazis by pinning paper clips on their lapels.

A Massachusetts inventor, Cornelius Brosnan, received a patent for a paper clip design in 1900. Again, his application spoke of the product as an improvement over other paper clips already in existence. His clip was marketed as the Konaclip. The Konaclip was an oval loop of wire with an inner arm terminating in a rounded eye. At least these three clips, the Schooley, the Vaaler, and the Brosnan designs, existed by the turn of the century. In 1899 a Connecticut inventor, William Middlebrook, applied for a patent for a machine to make paper clips. Middlebrook's patent application was not for making any particular type of clip, but the one pictured on the application's illustration looked like the archetypal Gem. Gem clips were imported to the United States from England by at least 1907. The Gem was advertised as a fine English product, superior to all others. Though paper clips of differing designs continued to be made for several years, by about the mid-1930s, the Gem had become the most commonly used.
Raw Materials

Paper clips are generally made from galvanized steel wire. The wire diameter depends on what size and quality clips are being made from it. Paper clips can be made from light, cheap steel, or from better quality steel, depending on the manufacturer. The material used, however, has to fall within certain physical parameters to make satisfactory paper clips.
Design

The Gem clip is often held up as a paragon of modern design. It is simple, elegant, and surpassingly functional. Yet leaving the iconic shape aside, a paper clip designer must consider a host of mechanical and engineering questions. The material used to make a paper clip must possess certain properties. The wire needs to be stiff enough to hold its shape in use, but not so stiff that it is difficult to open. Engineers also consider a quality called yield stress when designing a paper clip. Yield stress is the amount of stress needed to permanently reshape the wire. If the wire has too low yield stress, it will stay bent open and not hold the papers tightly. Engineers also must consider the cost effectiveness of the material used. Using a cheaper, thinner wire may save the manufacturer money. Yet the material must also perform well in the manufacturing process, not leaving sharp burrs at the cut ends and resisting cracking or breaking. The material used also should be non-corrosive. The finished appearance of the clip is also a design consideration. The clip can have various finishes, smooth or slightly serrated, shiny or dull, and it can be made in many different sizes. So even though the basic Gem design has survived primarily unchanged for about a hundred years, manufacturers still confront design and materials options when making new paper clips.
The Manufacturing Process

The manufacturing process for paper clips is fairly simple, using a specialized wire forming machine. Moreover, the process has not changed much since the 1930s.
The process begins with a huge spool of galvanized steel wire. A worker feeds the end of the wire into the paper clip machine. A finished paper clip has three bends. The machine forms the wire into these three bends by cutting it and passing it by three small wheels. The wheels are slightly roughened, and catch the length of wire as it passes.
The first wheel turns the wire 180 degrees, making the first bend, the second makes the next bend, and the third wheel makes the final turn. The entire process is so quick, the machine can churn out hundreds of clips a minute.
The finished paper clips fall into open boxes. The boxes are shut and sealed. Depending on the size of the factory, many paper clip machines may be operating at once. Automated controls allow one worker to monitor dozens of machines.
Quality Control

Quality control is not a particularly important issue in paper clip manufacturing. Visual inspection of the product is enough to identify a problem with the process. No special tests are needed. The manufacturing equipment must be maintained in order to work properly. Some machines still in use today in the United States were built in the 1930s or even earlier. Trained workers check the equipment for wear and defects that might affect the quality of the finished clips.
By products/Waste

Though paper clips are re-usable, many are thrown away. Some office paper recyclers ask that paper clips be removed before paper is put in recycling bins. Some recyclers use metal detecting equipment that can separate out staples and paper clips, so this material can be recycled separately. One paper clip industry study estimated that the vast percentage of paper clips were never used as intended—to hold paper—but were bent and destroyed by people, used as cleaning or prying instruments, etc. Since paper clips are inexpensive, both to manufacture and to buy as a retail item, most are not re-used or recycled but simply thrown away.
The Future

The Gem clip has held sway against other contenders in paper clip design for a very long time. All-plastic paper clips came on the market in the 1950s, to some success, followed by plastic-coated clips. In the 1990s a Pennsylvania company began marketing what looks like essentially a giant Gem clip, which can hold more than one hundred sheets of paper at one time. None of these developments differs markedly from the turn-of-the-century design consumers are so familiar with. This leads to the question of whether the Gem clip is already a perfect design, thus leaving no room for improvement.

A Nifty Story About Paper Clips

Matt Boytim writes: "My buddy and I were students in the early 80's. We commuted to school and parked in a lot with meters. Being poor college students we were interested in feeding the meters with something other than money, and we had heard that you could use 'paper clips'. Of course, this made no sense to us until my buddy bought a box of Nifty Clips. We put a Nifty Clip in the dime slot of the meter, and a penny in the nickel slot, and wind the meter up to 4 hours. This worked because the nifty clip was slightly bigger in diameter than a dime and acted as a spring. It would compress to fit through the dime slot and once through would expand to engage the timer when you turned the knob. The penny was needed, I guess, because something solid had to be in one of the coin slots. We went to get more clips from an office supply store. When we paid, the guy said, 'So these things still work in the parking meters.' We did this for about two years, until they raised the price of parking and removed the dime and nickel slot. If you really care I can tell you what we did after that, but it had nothing to do with Nifty Clips."

How is Paper Recycled?

Paper is one of the easiest materials to recycle. Paper is collected from our kerbside or recycling banks by local authorities and waste management companies.

Once the paper is collected it is then:
Sorted, graded and delivered to a paper mill.
Once at the paper mill it is added to water and then turned into pulp.
The paper is then screened, cleaned and de-inked through a number of processes until it is suitable for papermaking.
It is then ready to be made into new paper products such as newsprint, cardboard, packaging, tissue and office items.

It can take just seven days for a newspaper to go through the recycling process and be transformed into recycled newsprint which is used to make the majority of Britain’s national daily newspapers.

How is Paper Made?

If you really want to know about paper and papermaking, you've got to get to know trees.

Trees are all around you. But have you ever really thought about how they're put together? They're pretty cool.

Just look at a tree trunk. The bark protects the inner wood from weather, insects and other dangers. Just inside the bark is a thin layer called the cambium, whose cells become both bark and inner wood. Next is sapwood, which carries nourishing sap throughout the tree the same way our blood flows through our bodies to nourish us. Heartwood is the innermost part of the trunk, and even though it isn't alive, it provides the tree with strength and structure.

All that wood material is formed of fibers, tiny cellulose strands stuck together with a natural adhesive material called lignin. It's by separating and reorganizing those fibers that we make paper.

Consider the source
Some paper is made brand-new from trees - either small trees harvested just for that purpose, or from sawmill scraps left over when larger trees are made into lumber. A second source of papermaking material is recycled fiber. Each year, more and more paper is recycled - its fibers used a second, third or fourth time. Every year, about 50% of the paper Americans use is recovered for recycling and other uses.

Almost all of the paper you use today is made of wood fibers. Some specialty papers, like stationery and money, are made from linen, cotton, or other plants. Other papers contain a combination of cellulose fibers and synthetics such as latex. Still others are made completely from synthetic materials such as polyolefine. You might find latex in a waterproof mariner's chart, or polyolefine in a rugged courier envelope. But you'll find natural fiber paper almost everywhere!

Wood is wood?
Yes, but it's not that simple. Each tree species grows a certain way, and that affects the way its wood looks and performs. Foresters divide trees into two categories: hardwood and softwood species.

Hardwood trees such as oaks and maples have wood with very short fibers. Paper made from these species is weaker than that made from softwoods, but its surface is smoother, and therefore better to write and print on.

Softwood trees such as pine and spruce have wood with long fibers, and paper made from this type of wood is much stronger. This paper is ideal for making products like shipping containers that require superior strength. But the finish is rougher, and that's not as good for writing, printing and many other uses.

Happily, we can blend fiber from hardwoods and softwoods into a single paper, getting just the combination of strength, whiteness, writing surface and other characteristics that we want.

And that's just what we do! Most of the paper you see today is made from both hardwoods and softwoods, a special blend for each purpose.

We make newsprint to be opaque (that means difficult to see through) - so you only see the newspaper's comics, not the stock market report on the other side!

We make grocery bag paper strong, tissue soft, fine writing paper smooth. Even within the same category, there's quite a range. Among printing papers, for example, compare the thin sheets of a Bible to the thick, tough pages of a kid's picture book.

The basic recipe - wood, water and energy - is adjusted to make just the paper that's needed.

First, workers harvest trees, mostly from special tree-growing areas called tree farms. After the trees are removed, more trees are planted in their place. While they are growing, the young trees produce lots of oxygen, and provide great habitat for deer, quail, turkeys and other wildlife.

The logs are transported to the paper company where they get a bath to rinse away dirt and other impurities before being turned into small chips of wood. The chips are then sorted according to size, and moved to the pulping operation, where they will be turned into pulp for making paper.

In the pulping stage, the individual wood fibers in the chips must be separated from one another. This can be accomplished using one or more pulping techniques. The type of paper that's being made determines the pulping process that is used. The finished pulp looks like a mushy, watery solution. But if you look at it under a microscope, you will see that the individual wood fibers have all been separated.

Now it's time to make paper out of our pulp. That mainly means getting the water out of the wood-fiber soup, since this papermaking stock is about 99% water. The first area in which this takes place is called the wet end of the papermaking machine.

First, papermakers spray the stock onto a long, wide screen, called a wire. Immediately, water begins to drain out the bottom of the wire. This water is collected so that it can be reused over and over again. Meanwhile, the pulp fibers are caught on the top side of the wire, and begin to bond together in a very thin mat. The fiber mat remaining on the wire is then squeezed between felt-covered press rollers to absorb more of the water.

Even when this wet end work is over, the pulpy stuff on the wire is still about 60% water. But now it's time for the dry end.

In the dry end, huge metal cylinders are heated by filling them with steam. The wet paper, which can be up to 30 feet wide, passes through these hot rollers - sometimes dozens of them, and often in three to five groups. Heating and drying the wet sheet seals the fibers closer and closer together, turning them gradually from pulp into paper.

When you look at a piece of paper, can you find any difference in thickness in that single sheet? Probably not, thanks to a part of the paper machine called the calender - big, heavy cast iron rollers that press the drying paper smooth and uniform in thickness.

Sometimes the paper is coated, often with fine clay, to make it glossier and easier to print on.

A bit more drying, then rolled onto a big spool or reel, the pulp - a miraculous mat of fibers from trees - has become paper, ready for a thousand uses.

How to Lose Weight Fast

Want to slim down fast for that beach vacation or high school reunion? While there are many things you can do to shed pounds, losing weight too quickly, like any sudden change to your body, can be dangerous. While fad diets, diet pills, and fasting may indeed induce rapid weight loss, these methods can cause you to lose muscle and may also injure your heart and other organs fairly quickly. The best solution? Don't go for an overnight miracle. Instead, follow these steps to lose fat rapidly, healthily, and sustainably.

Steps
Determine your daily calorie intake . Losing weight is simply a matter of expending more calories than you take in, through exercise and your daily activities. To win the battle, it helps to know how many calories you are consuming in a day.
Write down all the things you eat on a typical day. Carry a small notebook with you and write down every snack, every drink, and the contents of every meal. There are also great websites that you can use to keep track of calories, get recipes, and help achieve your goal. Don't forget to include the pats of butter or the spoonful of sugar in your coffee. It's best to do this for at least a couple weekdays and a weekend; it's even better if you can go a full week. There are also calorie tracking websites that can help you to do this, for example the US government website, My Pyramid Tracker.
Do an itemized calorie count. When possible, write down the number of calories in each thing you eat as you eat it. Keep in mind that the recommended serving size is often considerably smaller than the serving you actually eat. Look up the calorie count on the internet for foods that don't have calories listed on the container or for fast food meals. You don't have to be 100% accurate, but you do want a good estimate of the number of calories you're taking in. There is an idea that multiplying your own weight by ten will produce a rough estimate of the number of calories you need to eat per day to maintain your weight. This is NOT true, you may wind up grossly under (or perhaps over) estimating the number of calories you should be eating. Use a scientific or health website to determine the number of calories you should eat a day or consult your doctor. Everyone has different metabolisms and there is no blanket rule that covers everyone's recommended calorie intake. Reducing 500 calories per day from the calories you eat to maintain your weight can help you lose a pound of fat per week.[2]
Go over the list and decide which foods to cut out or reduce. Cutting calories is usually a lot easier than you might think. For example, that daily tall latte in the morning may pack 500 calories. Since a pound of flab (lost or gained) is roughly equivalent to 3,500 calories, replacing that rich beverage with black coffee can help you lose a pound a week. Other easy cuts include salad dressing (salad dressing is the number one source of fat in the average American woman's diet) soda pop, candy, and butter. Look at the nutritional information for the foods you eat, pay special attention to your intake of saturated fats and empty calories (high-sugar foods). You don't need to cut these things out entirely, but if you reduce your intake of high-fat, high-calorie foods you'll lose weight faster.
Seek out alternatives to the unhealthy foods you've identified. You can simply reduce the amount of soda you drink or mayonnaise you put on your sandwiches, or you can substitute healthier choices. Drink water instead of soda, for example, or use mustard instead of mayo. Low-fat and low-calorie options are also available for most foods, and many of these are natural, (although some are made with strange chemicals), and tasty. Start trying to eat healthy in most meals:

Choose lean meats. Chicken and fish are both very low in fat (and certain fish like salmon, sardines, and fresh tuna are an excellent source of antioxidants, which are also beneficial to your health), so aim to replace some or all of the beef or pork in your diet with these foods.
Replace high-calorie side dishes with healthier alternatives. Many people get a ton of calories from side dishes such as macaroni and cheese, French fries, or potato salad. You can eat healthier and lose weight by replacing these with fresh vegetables and salads. Pre-made salads are practically effortless, and when accompanied by a reduced-calorie dressing or no dressing at all, they're weight-loss gold.
Start your days off right. A fattening breakfast of bacon and eggs or a pastry can be replaced with yogurt, oatmeal, high-fiber, low-sugar cereals; or fresh fruit for fruit smoothies. However, for those on a low carb diet bacon and eggs are a great combo for breakfast, since neither have carbs. But don't fall into the trap of skipping breakfast. Eating a healthy breakfast increases your rest metabolic rate earlier in the day, and reduces snacking before lunch.
Plan your meals. Look for healthy, delicious meals online or in your cookbooks, and create a menu for the week. Make sure that your meal plan reduces your total calorie intake: you're not going to lose weight if you consume the same amount of calories by eating different foods. Make a list of what you'll need for these meals, and -- except for a few snacks, of course -- don't stray from your list when you get to the market. Planning your meals helps ensure you get a balanced diet and reduces the temptation to stop off for fast food or order a pizza. Remember, it's easier to stick to your shopping list if you shop when you aren't hungry.
Watch your portion sizes. Opening a bag of rice cakes and eating all of them in one sitting isn't going to help you lose weight. When eating chips, nuts, or dried fruit put a portion in a small bowl and then put the bag away. That way you won't mindlessly eat a larger portion than you had intended. Even if you only make minimal changes to your diet choices, reducing portion size will inevitably reduce caloric intake. A great way to watch portion sizes while snacking is to buy one serving 100 calorie packages - and they come in many favorite snack food items![3]
Graze on healthy snacks. Just because you're getting healthy doesn't mean you can't snack. In fact, eating small meals and snacks throughout the day, or grazing, has been shown to aid weight loss, (compared to eating three large meals a day), by keeping metabolism steadier. Pick snacks that are low in calories and fat and high in fiber (dried apricots, nuts, rice cakes, fruits, baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, and so on). Vegetables are generally very low in calories, very high in fiber, and full of flavor and nutrition. Avoid starchy vegetables like potatoes, and try to eat vegetables plain, without fatty dressings or dips. Fruit also makes a good snack. Fruit contains more soluble fiber than vegetables, which slows your body's absorption of carbohydrates, thus releasing energy more slowly, (preventing sugar highs), and keeping you feeling full longer. Fruit juices are not a replacement for the real thing. You need that fiber, and juices often have more calories than the equivalent serving of fruit -- as many calories as soda! Be careful with dried fruits, because without the water, you tend to eat more, and fruits, when dried, are calorie-rich per ounce. With any dry or dried food, be sure to drink plenty of water.
Get more fiber. There are many myths about fiber, but there is science to back up its helpful role in the diet. Fiber keeps the right amount of water in your intestines, making your digestive system work more efficiently and helping to keep you regular. Thus, just eating enough fiber may help you feel slimmer in just a day or so. There is also evidence that fiber in the diet can help prevent stroke and heart disease, ease the effects of diabetes, and may even directly help in weight loss.
Drink plenty of water. Adequate water is essential for health, and a great many people simply don't get enough. What's more, if you're chronically dehydrated, your body will retain water in unflattering places, so if you make sure to get plenty of fluids you can start visibly trimming down in as little as a day. Remember, the more you exercise, the more water you'll need. See the related wikiHow for more details on how much water you should be getting.
Exercise. Remember, you can lose weight either by decreasing your calorie intake or increasing the number of calories you burn. Any health strategy should include both, but if you want to lose weight fast, exercise is essential.
Perform high-level aerobic activities. Moderate aerobic workouts incorporating jogging, brisk walking, cycling, aerobic machines, or classes not only burn calories -- they also keep your heart healthy. Swimming is also great, especially if you are quite overweight or have joint problems, because you can get the same benefits of running -- typically burning even more calories -- with much less stress on your joints. Try to get at least 30-40 minutes of aerobic exercise at least three or four days per week.
Pump some iron. Resistance training, (weight training), can help both sexes stay lean by building muscle and raising metabolism. The fact is, hours and hours of aerobic exercise won't help most people lose weight fast because your metabolism drops back to normal fairly quickly after stopping the exercise. If you gain muscle, however, your body's resting metabolism, (the amount of calories you burn when you're just sitting still), increases, because muscle requires a lot of calories to maintain. Studies have shown consistent weight training to raise the body's metabolism by 15%. This means an average woman might burn 200-300 more calories at rest every day! Resistance training is the gift that keeps on giving! Although, keep in mind that muscle mass weighs more than fat (don't be surprised if you gain weight but look slimmer).
Rest properly. This means not only taking at least 24-48 hours between strength training the same muscles, (and taking 1-2 days off from exercising each week); it also means getting enough sleep at night, since sleep deficiency impairs your ability to lose fat.
Be realistic. Don't expect a miracle. Healthy weight loss can be achieved fairly quickly, but you'll need to be patient. In addition, be sure to set realistic goals. Make sure that the weight you're trying to reach is a healthy weight for you, and keeping in mind that gaining pounds of muscle will help you lose fat, be trimmer, and look better even though you don't actually lose any weight. Your goal should be a healthy body, not a number of pounds! Everyone looks good at a different weight. A short person may look really good at about 112 pounds, but a person of a taller height would just look unhealthy. Keep yourself at a weight that makes you look good, not at a number that sounds good.
Make adjustments. A successful weight loss strategy based on reducing calorie intake and increasing activity can be adjusted to maintain your desired weight once you reach it. Unlike typical diets, this method is sustainable -- it is a lifestyle change, not a binge-and-purge exercise. Slowly adjust your diet and exercise to include more weight training and calories, as much as is comfortable for you. If you do gain any weight back, you want that weight to be lean, toned muscle, not fat. In addition, weight training, no matter what your age, prevents muscle atrophy and can help stave off osteoporosis.
Instead of thinking of it as losing a certain amount of pounds, think of it as being a certain weight. So if you are 145 pounds, and you would like to lose 10 pounds, think of it as being 135 pounds. This helps you think about it as a long-term goal and not just losing the weight to gain it back again.
Be confident. You need to believe in yourself! If you want to diet, and you know that it will make you feel better, then you need confidence. Otherwise, the temptation to cheat on your diet will make it harder, and you will not feel better when you do lose weight. Avoid temptations like chocolate, ice cream, and cookies. They may taste good, but there are other foods that taste delicious, too, without being unhealthy. You need to always encourage yourself to achieve the goals that you have set. Learn to evaluate your efforts fairly and objectively. If you fail to achieve your target for the week, find out why is it so. Is it because you have missed a jogging session? Or you have been eating junk food for one of the days? After evaluating, look ahead to next week and try your best to stick to your plan.[4]
Be consistent and disciplined, and have self motivation. To lose weight effectively, you need to stick to your weight loss plan religiously so as to see results. When you have the thought of giving up, visualize how good you will look when you manage to slim down successfully. [4]

How to improve your English skills

My most important piece of advice is: "Do something (anything). If you don't do anything, you won't get anywhere. Make it your hobby, not a chore, but above all have fun!"

Don't be in too much of a hurry. You're setting off on a long journey and there'll be delays and frustrations along the way. Sometimes you'll be in the fast lane and other times you'll be stuck in traffic, but there will also be lots of interesting things and interesting people along the way. Take your time to really enjoy the experience.

There are many ways to improve your level of English, but only you can find the right way for you. Here are a few tips that might help:-
Improve your Learning Skills

Learning is a skill and it can be improved.

Your path to learning effectively is through knowing
yourself
your capacity to learn
processes you have successfully used in the past
your interest, and knowledge of what you wish to learn

Motivate yourself

If you are not motivated to learn English you will become frustrated and give up. Ask yourself the following questions, and be honest:-
Why do you need to learn/improve English?
Where will you need to use English?
What skills do you need to learn/improve? (Reading/Writing/Listening/Speaking)
How soon do you need to see results?
How much time can you afford to devote to learning English.
How much money can you afford to devote to learning English.
Do you have a plan or learning strategy?

Set yourself achievable goals

You know how much time you can dedicate to learning English, but a short time each day will produce better, longer-term results than a full day on the weekend and then nothing for two weeks.

Joining a short intensive course could produce better results than joining a course that takes place once a week for six months.

Here are some goals you could set yourself:-
Join an English course (and attend regularly).
Do your homework.
Read a book a month.
Learn a new word every day.
Visit an English speaking forum every day.
Read a news article on the net every day.
Do 10 minutes listening practice every day.
Watch an English film at least once a month.
Follow a soap, comedy or radio or TV drama.

A good way to meet your goals is to establish a system of rewards and punishments.

Decide on a reward you will give yourself for fulfilling your goals for a month.
A bottle of your favourite drink
A meal out / or a nice meal at home
A new outfit
A manicure or massage

Understanding how you learn best may also help you.

There are different ways to learn. Find out what kind of learner you are in order to better understand how to learn more effectively..

The visual learner

Do you need to see your teacher during lessons in order to fully understand the content of a lesson?

Do you prefer to sit at the front of the classroom to avoid visual obstructions (e.g. people's heads)?

Do you think in pictures and learn best from visual displays including: diagrams, illustrated text books, overhead transparencies, videos, flipcharts and hand-outs?

During a lecture or classroom discussion, do you prefer to take detailed notes to absorb the information?

!Learning Tip - you may benefit from taking part in traditional English lessons, but maybe private lessons would be better.
The auditory learner

Do you learn best through verbal lectures, discussions, talking things through and listening to what others have to say?

Do you interpret the underlying meanings of speech through listening to tone of voice, pitch, speed and other nuances?

Does written information have little meaning until you hear it?

!Learning Tip - you may benefit from listening to the radio or listening to text as you read it. You could try reading text aloud and using a tape recorder to play it back to yourself.
The Tactile/Kinesthetic learner

Do you learn best through a hands-on approach, actively exploring the physical world around you?

Do you find it hard to sit still for long periods?

Do you become distracted easily?

!Learning Tip - you may benefit from taking an active part in role plays or drama activities.
Other English Learning Tips

Travel to an English speaking country:-
England is only a few hours flight away.
Specialist holidays are available to improve your English.
Take an English speaking tour or activity holiday.

Spend your time on things that interest you. If you like cooking then buy an English-language cookbook or find recipes on the net and practise following the recipes. You'll soon know if you have made a mistake!

Keep something English on you (book, newspaper or magazine, cd or cassette, set of flashcards) all day and every day, you never know when you might have 5 spare minutes.

If you are too tired to actively practice just relax and listen to an English pop song or talk radio station.

Increase download speed

You want to download faster?

OK, just make sure that
you use Good settings for high download speed
you don't have a NAT problem
you don't use a standard incoming listen port like 6881
you use Good Torrents
you do NOT use Force Start

When you are using a Windows OS you can also use the TCP Optimizer to optimize several system settings for your line speed.

Just click all those links and read the info carefully... after reading that you may ask questions about that topic in the IRC channel.

Another user complete download = faster download for you

Another reason for uploading is simply to help fill everyone up. By doing this you prevent someone, who is seeding, trying to upload a part you already have (and which is useless for you). The chance that he then uploads a piece you need becomes greater. This will not result directly in increasing speed but it will optimize the uploader's upload which results in you getting your piece sooner since you no longer need to wait for a piece. Think of it as a reverse Zero Sum game.

Use new Azureus version

Newer Azureus versions, begining with 2.3.0.7 Beta 19, include all-new completely re-written piece picking code that will generally reduce the time to complete torrents.

The Azureus Beta page is here.
[edit]
More Things To Know

It is very important to know that, when you are seeding, or uploading a torrent, the u/l speed of your sharing is not the only thing using your upstream bandwidth. Requests made to the tracker, browser requests to load web pages, and sending email all utilise your upstream capacity. So you may experience the following difficulties when running Azureus.
"Unable to locate server..." error message whilst browsing the web
Connection problems
Other web related issues

If you find yourself having problems with the Internet while Azureus is running, try further lowering your max upload.

The point of this section is to explain that when configuring your maximum u/l setting in Azureus, it is best not to set it to use all of your upstream capacity. Rather, it is best to set it to use a maximum of 80% of your total upstream bandwidth.
[edit]
A note on ADSL speeds using PPPoE:

An ADSL connection using PPPoE has reduced usable bandwidth compared to the theoretical bandwidth that is purchased. In my experience a theoretical 512kb/s dl product has overheads due to the PPPoE encapsulation that limits the connection to about 400kb/s max. This means the limit before applying the suggestions above should be 400/512 ≈ 78% of the theoretical bandwidth. This logic applies in both directions. So Azureus DL max would be:

80% × 78% × 512kb/s ≈ 319kb/s; 319kb/s ÷ 8 B/b ≈ 40 kB/s if Azureus is the only Internet application. Reduce this somewhat to allow other Internet protocols better response on the same connection.
[edit]
A tip for RcvWin/TcpWindowSize tweakers

"I've most often seen [poor performance] with people running on Windows who 'tweak' their TCP send and receive buffers to be very large in search of higher bandwidth. Buffered data is obsolete data and causes serious problems in the responsiveness of the protocol to changes in the peer state. Since data and requests share the same TCP socket, buffering lots of data means that your request for a block may have to wait 10's of seconds before it even gets transmitted, by which time the peer you are talking to may have decided that you aren't interested in his data after all, or your own client may decide that the peer you are talking to is snubbing you. Either of these is disastrous to download rates."
taken from the BitTorrent developer mailing list
[edit]
Final Note:

Trackers get uncountable numbers of requests made on them every day. I have seen that some people think that clicking on the "Manual Update" button will somehow increase their speeds or make an offline tracker come back online quicker. It Will Not. Clicking on the Manual Update button is for last resort checking when there is a connection problem On Your End. For example, if you are using a proxy for your tracker requests, you may need to perform some manual announces to verify that the proxy is working while you play with the settings. Also, some private trackers require peers to be logged in on their web page before they can connect to the tracker, adding the IP they logged in from to a whitelist. In this case it may be necessary to announce manually after you log in.

In any case, the more you click on the Manual Update button, the more this will destabilize the tracker, and cause it to go offline for everybody. So for the most part, Leave the Manual Update button alone, and your speeds will recover by themselves (unless there are other issues, but anyway, this button will not help to fix those either).

How to Increase Download Speed

The Internet is the fastest and easiest way to get all types of information and multimedia, but if you are stuck with slow download speeds, you are not getting the most out of the Internet. A fast computer will help a little, but there are several ways to increase your download speed without upgrading your computer. Read on to learn how to increase your download speed.

Step
1

Check with your Internet service provider about Internet connection options. The speed of your Internet connection is the most significant variable to your download speed. If you have dial-up Internet access, consider upgrading to a Direct Service Line (DSL) or a cable connection. Even if you already have cable, your Internet service provider may have faster cable services available.

Step
2

Understand a fast connection. Connection speed is measured by the amount of data that can be transferred per second, usually kilobits per second (Kbps) or megabits per second (Mbps). There are 1024 kilobits in one megabit. Most dial-up connections are 56 Kbps, while cable can be as fast as 20 Mbps. When you contact your Internet service provider, they should be able to tell you the speed of their connections.

Step
3

Close any open programs you do no need when downloading. This will free up your computer's resources to better handle the data transfer. If possible, have your computer download the files you need while you are away from the computer.

Step
4

Prioritize your downloads. Download only the files you really want first and start other downloads later. The more files you download simultaneously, the slower the files download.

Step
5

Try downloads at different times of the day. The more people who are downloading the same file, the slower the file downloads for everyone. If you are experiencing a slow download, try it at a different time of day when fewer people might be trying to download the same file.

Step
6

Install Download Accelerator. Download Accelerator is a program that optimizes your computer's download capabilities. It not only increases the speed of your downloads, it helps you manage them. When you begin downloading a file, Download Accelerator saves the file so that you can resume downloading it later if necessary. To get Download Accelerator, go to the Download website, search for Download Accelerator, click "Download Now" and follow the directions.

WEB HOSTING

Domain Name
If you're seriously doing business on the WWW, you may consider to have your own domain name. Internic is the organization who provide domain name registration in the US. There are other organizations handle the registration in their own country or specific regions. To find out more about an organization who is responsible for domain name registration in your country, check Thomas Ohrbom's page or Yahoo.
Where can I have my site hosted?

This is the difficult question. If you cannot setup your own server, you may consider having web hosting providers to host your site.

You can choose from a lot of different web hosts. It's important to compare between different providers and to make sure that you really get the features you need, you don't want to pay to much, but still you don't want to be stuck with a provider that doesn't upscale your needs. You can read more about this and search for different types of web hosting like dedicated servers at www.webhostingsearch.com
Free Web Pages:

Yahoo provides links to free places. The most popular place people on the web go for free hosting is at Geocities. Anyway, there are many limitations of having your site host with free service providers. For example, you aren't allowed to make sub directories or use your own CGI.

Get on the top of major search engines:

1. Use META tags.

Most search engine will look inside META tags in your web page. Here is the example of how to use tags.

These META tags should be put in . In "description", put the brief description of your page. In "keywords", list the keywords that you think your visitors will find your site by typing those keywords. You can separate each keywords or description by using comma (,) as shown above.
2. Page Title

Infoseek will use your title as the priority in their search process. Name your title carefully. Try thinking about what keywords your visitors will type to find your page. Yahoo also uses page title and the description that you submit to search.
3. Contents of your page.

Some search engines such as Excite will not read META tag but it will look at the content of your site. If you use image map, please make sure that you also have words as an alternative.
4. Don't repeat the same keywords more than 5 times in META tag.

Lycos, will ban your page (by placing it down the list or not listing it) if they find that you are repeating words to improve the ranking.
5. Make sure that there are keywords in 3 places.

Yeah! Make sure that there are keywords in 3 places: META tags, page title, and contents of your page.

You can type them in capital case or lower case. It doesn't matter.I typed them in capital to make it easy to read. Nothing has happened yet; we have just told the browsers (Netscape, Internet Explorer, and etc.) that this is a HTML document. The first is to tell the browser that "Here's the begining of HTML section." tells the browsers that "Here's the end of HTML section." Inside these two tags is where you will put the contents of your web page in.

Notice that we have and . This is how we open and close HTML tags. The closing tag is always in format. In most case, you will have to close every tag that you open.

Next, add a HEAD section to your web page.

My first page

Look at the top of this window (the one that you're reading) and you will see "The easiest HTML guide for beginners" <br /> <br />OK. Now, let's put in the first word that the browser will display.  <br /> <br /><html> <br /><head> <br /><title>My first page

Let's get back to our document. It now looks like this in a browser.
HELLO

Let's save this web page and view it in your browser. Save the page using 'save as' and name it whatever you like. Let's name it "mypage.htm" Please remember the location of your file. You may create a new directory for it or just simply save it in drive C. Open your web browser (Netscape or Internet Explorer) and try to open the file that you just save. Click on 'File' -> 'Open' and type in c:\mypage.htm or the path to your file.
