Shah Faisal Mosque:- This beautiful mosque designed by a renowned Turkish Architect, Vedat Dalokay, is named after the late King Faisal of Saudi Arabia. It is spread over 1, 89,705 sq.meters with 88 meters high minarets and 40 meters high main prayer hall. The main prayer hall can accommodate 10,000 persons while the covered porticos and verandahs can take over 24,000 worshipers. The main courtyard has space for 40,000 people. Badshahi Mosque:- The Royal or the Badshahi Mosque is across the courtyard from Alamgiri Gate of the Lahore Fort. The Mosque, entirely made up of red sand-stone, was built by Emperor Aurangzeb, the last of the great Mughals, in a record time of two and-a-half years. Its construction was completed by 1674 A.D. It has a beautiful gate-way which measures 21.33 meters in length and a courtyard that measures 161.5 x 160.6 meters and is said to be the largest mosque courtyard in the world for outdoor prayers. Golden Mosque:- Suneri Mosque or Golden Mosque is located in the center of Lahore, Punjab. The founder of the mosque was Nawab Syed Bhikari Khan, son of Raushan-ud-Daula Turrabaz Khan, deputy governor of Lahore during the reign of Muhammad Shah. The Golden Mosque is situated in the Kashmiri Bazar.It was built in 1753 AD.It features three beautiful golden domes.The mosque is elevated on a higher plinth, surrounded by old bazaars. It has a beautiful gateway, which measures 21.3 meters in length and a courtyard that measures 161.5 x 160.6 meters. The marble domes cover seven prayer chambers. Four lofty minarets stand at the four corners of the mosque, each with an outer circumference of 20 meters, soaring up to 54 meters. Dai Anga Mosque:- The mosque of Dai Anga was built during the reign of Shah Jahan in 1635 A.D. by his Dai (wet-nurse) Anga and is known after her name. Her real name was Zeb-un-Nisa. It is related that Dai Anga had this beautiful mosque built on the eve of her departure for Hajj. The mosque contains some of the finest examples of tile mosaic work among numerous contemporary examples in Lahore. Wazir Khan Mosque:- Wazir Khan Mosque in Lahore is famous for its extensive faience tile work.It has been described as “a mole on the cheek of Lahore”. It was built in seven years, starting around 1634-1635 A.D., during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. It was built by Sheikh Ilm-ud-din Ansari, a native of Chiniot, who rose to be the court physician to Shah Jahan and later the Governor of Lahore. He was commonly known as Wazir Khan. (The word Wazir means minister in Urdu language.) The mosque is located inside the Inner city and is easiest accessed from Delhi Gate.
